LIESEL AND MAX: DO THEY REMAIN TOGETHER

zusakbooks:

On one hand (and this is the cop-out answer) it’s purely up to the reader, just as characters in every book live on beyond the pages. Nobody can be wrong.

.

In this case, though, in my own mind, I have at least four reasons why Max and Liesel don’t get married, and I honestly believe it’s more romantic that they don’t.

.

First, in many ways I felt that the book is about Liesel’s different kind of loves - for Hans, for Rosa, for Rudy and Max, and for books and living in general. She is in the centre and all of these things revolve around her. Max, to me, was a brotherly\sisterly kind of love. There’s at least one allusion to him as a replacement for her own brother.

.

Second, I could cite an age difference, but that, of course, wouldn’t be insurmountable, but it is there.

.

Third, I’ve always believed (in my own version of events beyond the pages) that they do keep in contact their whole lives and still have that kindred connection. But I also feel like they needed to start their lives fresh, alone and away from all of that mess.

.

And lastly (and most romantically, I think), I figure if Rudy couldn’t have Liesel, no-one from that world could. In my mind he was the one who loved her with the greatest intensity in that way, and I feel like it’s only fitting that we have to leave that world for her to find a different life, and all that comes with it.

.

Still, like I said, for me (and it is only my opinion), Max and Liesel DO stay together, but not necessarily in the way some people think…But of course, I’m still more than happy for readers to believe they do get married and live their lives together. At the end of the day, it’s still up to you, and that’s the beauty of books. In so many ways, they never really end.

Keep the Fire Burning

"Keep the Fire Burning!" Sir Ferds said as he encouraged us. These words made me think a lot. What is happening? To me I mean. It just hit me “bull’s eye!” His words I believe is not just an encouragement but a realization too.

.

This semester is really a “bang!” Well, that’s how I describe it. It’s so messy. Studies? I don’t know where to start. The subjects are giving us a hard time now and I feel like everything is so heavy and I just can’t handle everything the proper way. I am losing it somehow… Aside from school, there are others I need to give my attention to, the church, family, friends, job, vacation, fun, gifts, everything. But, all I think I could do is do it one step at a time. Anyhow, I can’t. I have to do two or three or more of these, and; thinking how? I got stuck thinking.

.

When I heard, “Keep the fire burning!” these words are not just for my dreams I thought, but it also strikes every detail of my life. These words remind me to put everything in the hands of the Lord and keep believing in the wonders of his works; that He is almighty and He is in control. These words speak to never stop and to never let go, to keep on track and to never lose hope, to not give up and to stand strong.

.

I heard the words last December 20, 2013 when the Spirit of Christmas visited the office. :) Nahaha. We had a “little party” that night where we all spend time laughing, joking, playing, eating and sharing words and stuffs. I am with Kelvin, Sary, and Lara (KSL) when Sir Ferds spoke those words to encourage us. I am so blessed that night and also got a chance to speak how thankful I am for these people including Ma’am Julie, Nanay and Sir Teri for all their kindness and of course to Ate Joy whom I met there for the first time. Well, this is also another “first,” KSL mentioned on our way home, this is “our-first-Christmas-Party-with-our-first-job.” hahaha. We are so blessed with all the gifts and fun. We didn’t expect the “little party” to be that exciting and to be that generous. Thank God for using the “company’s family” to share to us the blessings we all received.

And…. Finally I’ve got the book! Thank you Sir, I really really want to have it this Christmas and you made my wish come true! (The Monito-Monita was fun!) :D Have to finish reading it before January. ;)

.

May the Spirit of Christmas live in us not just this season but always. Jesus is the reason. Merry Christmas! ^_^

.

"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Isaiah 40:31(NIV)

.

"Keep the Fire Burning" Powerful words it is.

Secret unveiled?

The experience was another first I guess. My classmates and I always wanted that to happen but unfortunately every time we try, we end up losing it. But, it is different this time. We did it! …Though we had really terrible days just to push it through. I must have not mentioned that but the class, we are all accountable for all the dishonesty we committed. We are all craving for fun and excitement and maybe, just maybe, cause us to break the walls and decided that, “we should do it now or never at any cost.” The alibis are not for a student neither for a professor to do. As I will compare it in the corporate world, we are somehow playing the role of a fraudster. Then if someone might catch us, we have to take responsibility of our actions depending on what the court of law will decide.  Silly, we have planned it for a long time yet the alibis for it are not planned at all. Therefore we will all be caught any moment if a skeptic would ask. Actually, we almost get caught. Should I mention that one fail to maintain the confidentiality of the matter? And the alibis don’t match each other? Fortunately, despite of the flaws, it all went fun as we expected and we’re not caught at all. We are all safe and everything we’ve been through is a lesson that each of us must not forget just as all the “fun” we had together.

.

We are 5th year college students and I’m quite sure if it’s been a long time for all of us since we feel free as a bird and worry nothing as a kid and just play. The night of September 27, 2013, we, BSA 501 travel from Marikina to Batangas for a vacation I might say. The event was really for a “Team Building” but it is like a free day for everybody. We are excited! Indeed because of our excitement, just as I say, everything was all set and done and we didn’t even miss the chance to prepare a cheer for our teams before this very day comes. Our class was then divided to have 3 teams which we all named, EVEREDDY (red team), Y-NOTS (yellow team), and GREENADE (green team); we arrived at the Villa Ronar Resort past 11pm and next morning, September 28, 2013, the day we waited for so long has come.

.

Well, because we are divided in a sense, competition among three teams was becoming intense as the event draw near. But I believe it is not winning we all wanted, we just wanted to give our best and share our every moment with each other and make the best memories together. The competition is part of the thrill and excitement for us to pull out the best we can on this day that none of us can be sure of the possibility if we can have it for a second time.

.

We were three teams then but we are all one team! :) We are BSA 501, and this story is not enough to be told by one person alone but best to be told by us all.

.

We had fun! But, the fun we had is nothing if we learn nothing. This event has taught us a lot… I hope we all realize that. :)

Permalink spiritualinspiration:

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34)
Is there something that you are worrying about today? To worry means to allow something to revolve in your mind over and over again. God doesn’t want you to live worried or anxious about anything. He knows that worry steals your peace and joy. It affects every area of your life. Have you heard the saying, “Don’t worry yourself sick?” That’s because worrying affects your physical body. It affects your sleep. You won’t ever gain anything by worrying; in fact, you’ll lose precious moments that you can never get back again. The good news is that God has promised that you can have victory over worry. It starts by making the choice to trust in Him. When you cast your cares on Him, He will give you His peace.
Decide today to put an end to worry in your life. Choose to feed your faith and fill your mind with God’s promises. As you focus on God’s Word, you’ll drive out worry and fill your heart with faith and expectancy; and you’ll be empowered to move forward into the life of blessing He has in store for you!
